Casual Sunday oh my i’ve been waiting for you!!!

I absolutely enjoy sight reading! Preparing yourself for the unknown (lovely oxymoron), always expecting to sweat it out and plunge through the notes @ 180bpm with a high expectancy of error and slight chance of true success…and there’s conspicuous leniency for minor mess ups just because.
So far, auditioning and rehearsing with J Davey and the Truth has been all sight reading due to a copying/dissemination situation with super large manuscript paper…oh well, I’m quite pleased with executing my part on sheer faith and a serious case of BS…quite convincing.
Supposedly next week the issue should be rectified (I DO like to be prepared), but I’m down with a rehearsal session of sight reading.

For church I dusted off my MTD KZX from the August/September break (NOTE:I didn’t neglect it, I “shedded” on it quite a bit privately). Though in need of new strings the dead dense feel+vintage warmth FX provided by the amp head easily created what I need…a not so dead tone. Hahaha yeah I know that I need to replace but it’s cool for now.
Today I woke up early (5:15) to play two services with sleepy kids. Nevertheless it was a joy to minister (wait!!! Who am I kidding?) and chat with them during service (and help them pass notes inconspicuously-gotta teach the kids how to be smooth)…oh yeah peep the threads.

After a church program I stepped on stage….
J. Davey and the Truth this Wednesday past at the Rock Center. J Davey attains this vocal soul that captivates an audience anywhere…a notable actor (Treme, [new] Dallas), accompanied by an awesome band he can be seen at festivals and stages to come

Contrary to my desires, today I returned to a church I once played for [St. Paul AME-greenspoint]. I just happen to hear about the need of a bassist for an upcoming 10th Episcopal District meeting…annnnnnnd yep…easy as cake. It’s gonna be fun playing with the guys again (Kezra-drums, Jason-keys, Sherman-director).
From today, October 7 to some day two weeks from now I’m going on a fast. Not including food, just music. No I’m not overwhelmed but tired. As in any profession one must rest and reset. For me I need to seek any adjustments needed and accessible in maintaining a healthy passion for my current bread and butter. Burnt out not on learning about 70-100 songs/week and performing close to that number but on the facade that ally’s cool in BS and work. Yes I’ll work but not to the sole benefit of the abuser. I too got feelings, a loving family, and a demanding lifestyle which commands much time…I need dinner and a moment to watch live TV every now and then. When the rehearsals run long, my attention span grows tired and nerves run short, look-out world my short lived wrath will be a-coming.
